Onimusha: Way of the Sword Difficulty Settings

Updated

Short answer

On a first playthrough you choose between Story and Action. Story suits players who are here for the narrative or who are new to deflect-based action games; Action applies the full attack-and-defence pressure the combat was designed around.

A harder Carnage difficulty unlocks after you complete the game, and pairs with New Game Plus for higher-level challenges. Nothing is missing at the start — Carnage is post-game content by design.
